Women SEEN: Making an Impact 2019 will empower, inspire, support and connect Metro Detroit women innovating in their fields and making a difference.
SEEN Magazine is proud to present our second annual Women SEEN: Making an Impact conference on May 10, 2019. Join us for a morning-long conference filled with power networking, inspiring speakers, delectable food, mimosas and really good coffee. The mission of this event is to empower, enlighten and connect Metro Detroit women with other like-minded individuals and focus on key topics affecting our lives, careers and businesses.
We will highlight key issues that impact working women — whether it’s advancing your career, finding strategies to cope with work-life balance, meeting other working moms or raising money. Why do we do this? Consider this…
The U.S. Patent Office issued its 10 millionth patent last year, and despite how much has changed for women the past 100 years, a majority of patents go to men. According to a study by the National Bureau of Economic Research, a mere 7.5 percent of patents are granted to women.
Names like Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Ford and Leonardo da Vinci are known to be some of the world’s greatest innovators of all time. But what about Margaret E. Knight, Josephine Cochran, Maria Beasley, Mary Anderson, Madam C.J. Walker, Grace Hopper, Hedy Lamarr, Stephanie Kwolek and Patricia Bath? These women have innovated throughout their lives and changed our world, and yet, many have never heard of them.
Women are making the world a better place not just by creating new inventions or technology, but by innovating processes, communication and building new businesses that change the status quo. We want to bring more of their stories to you. We want to connect you to them, and learn from and support one another to make big things happen.
So join us, on Friday, May 10, 2019, as we bring you Women SEEN 2019, a day for women to celebrate and empower women.
SEEN published its first Women’s Issue in May 2018, kicking off our inaugural Women SEEN event to bring empowering women together to make great things happen. The event was an incredible success inspiring all 200 attendees and facilitating connections that last and lead to big things.
The icing on the cake was being awarded the Folio Eddie & Ozzie award for best issue in the Midwest by a regional magazine! As a four-year-old magazine, this is an incredible feat, and we were so honored to win for an issue produced by our women-led editorial team.
We are so excited to build upon last year’s success to bring you Women SEEN 2019 on Friday, May 10. Grab your best girlfriends, moms, sisters, aunts and colleagues, and get your tickets before they sell out!
We could not produce such an incredible event without the support of our sponsors. They put their money where their mouth is to fund this event because of a deep passion for supporting women in business and in the community. Take a look at this year’s sponsors and consider supporting them in what they do, as they support us.
