What to Know for Election Day 2018 in Michigan

Published November 6, 2018 by

Happy Election Day! Before you hit the polls, here’s what you need to know.

Polls are open until 8 p.m. in Michigan today. Check the Secretary of State website to view a sample ballot, verify your voter registration information or track the status of your absentee ballot for voters who voted early!

Not sure where to go to vote? This website will tell you that too!

If you don’t want to wait in line, the Secretary of State recommends avoiding the peak voting hours of  7-9 a.m. and 4-8 p.m. Yet all voters still standing in line at 8 p.m. when the polls close are entitled to cast a ballot.

One thing to keep in mind this election: There is no straight ticking voting option. As the Secretary of State explains, “voters must select a candidate (or candidates, if the ballot instructions allow) for each race in which they wish to cast a vote.”

Happy voting!
