1. International Women’s Day Detroit Virtual Event
March 7

International Women’s Day Detroit has joined forces with a coalition of local organizations for a virtual celebration of International Women’s Day! The event includes guest speakers, live entertainment, raffles and more. Tickets are $10 for general admission, or $25 for general admission and a gift bag. All proceeds will go to Detroit-based non-profit Fierce Empowerment, an organization committed to empowering women by providing resources and leadership programs. Register today to secure your spot!
2. Detroit Film Theatre @ Home
The Detroit Institute of Arts is hosting virtual screenings of “Test Pattern” directed by Shatara Michelle Ford in part of the DFT @ Home series. Ford’s debut feature is set against the backdrop of national discussions around health care, the #metoo movement and race in America. Tickets are $12 and the film can be screened online through March 12 via Kino Marquee or on the Kino Now app for Roku, Amazon Fire Stick or Apple TV.
3. University of Michigan: Gendered Consequences of Systems Involvement
March 19
12:00 – 1:30 pm
Hosted by the University of Michigan Institute for Research on Women & Gender, this virtual event will feature panelists discussing various aspects of systems involvement related to gender-based violence. The event is free to attend, but registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
4. Women in Cinema Series
315 E. Warren Ave. Detroit
The Charles H. Wright Museum is offering free screenings of films celebrating Black women every Thursday in March! You can view films in person or stream from home. Registration is required for virtual streaming only.
5. Women’s History Along Detroit’s Riverfront: A Virtual Tour

6. Michigan Women Forward Donation
In celebration of Women’s History Month, Michigan Women Forward invites you to honor a woman who has made an impact on your life with a donation to the organization. All honored women and their descriptions will be highlighted on the Michigan Women Forward website and will remain throughout Women’s History Month. Click here to make a donation!
7. Birmingham Society of Women Painters: Women’s Work
The Birmingham Society of Women Painters is collaborating with Lawrence Street Gallery for a new exhibit, “Women’s Work,” in celebration of Women’s History Month. Exhibit dates are March 4-26. The opening reception is March 5 from 3-7 pm, and a mid-month reception is scheduled for March 14 from 2-5 pm. Work displayed in the exhibit will also be available for purchase online.
