Kevin Green, hair stylist at Luigi Bruni Salon in Birmingham, shares three popular hair styles for brides this year. Green says wedding hair trends in 2019 are all about being put together, yet effortless.

Sarah Butler, a 32-year-old St. Clair Shores resident and registered nurse, is getting married this September at the Greystone Golf Club in Romeo. She says her favorite look is the textured side bun with the María Elena crown.

Bride-to-be Sarah Butler of St. Clair Shores models the textured side bun.

“It looks very elegant,” Butler says. Since her Essense of Australia gown has an illusion neckline and back, she says having her hair up in a gorgeous low bun will be a great way to show off her dress.

Hair Tools Used:

1. Bohemian Half Updo

The bohemian half updo is for the free-spirit bride who wants to still look like herself in a “lived in but not too done” look, Green says. This half-up, half-down style is created with beach wave curls pulled into a two-strand, loose knot. Green says this kind of look has become increasingly popular as brides crave more effortless and natural styles.

2. Textured Side Bun

A classic style — with a twist. This knotted bun is a gorgeous option for brides who like having their hair secure and out of their face, Green says. It is accomplished with beach waves pinned back in a low side bun with strategically tousled pieces pulled out to add texture. This look works especially well for dresses with detailed backs and high-necks.

Optional Accessory: María Elena crown, $1,150, from Roma Sposa in Birmingham.

3. Romantic Braid

This long, romantic braid is for the fun, outgoing bride who wants to “change it up,” Green says. This look is made by weaving pre-curled strands into a full, piecey French braid. Green says the key to accomplish this romantic style is to pull pieces of hair around the face.

Optional Accessory: María Elena tiara, $405, from Roma Sposa in Birmingham.
