Our list of things to do this month in metro Detroit.

There is never a shortage of things going on in metro Detroit, especially during the summer, so it’s really hard to narrow it down to just 10. But here are the events that are on my list to hit up this month – from food, drinks, fashion and shopping to live music, yoga and paddle boarding there is something for everyone!
1. Detroit Beer and Wine Fest
What: Sip 100+ beers and wines from over 40 breweries and wineries from across the state at Detroit Beer & Wine Fest.
When: August 4th @ 7:30pm – 11pm.
Venue: Grand Circus Detroit.
2. Walk for Kids
What: Walk with friends and family to raise money for kids, and then stay to enjoy a baseball game! The Rainbow Connection’s annual walk will help provide support services for our own Michigan children with life threatening illnesses.
When: August 5th @ 5 – 9pm
Venue: Jimmy John’s field
3. Yoga Day at Comerica Park
What: Yoga in the outfield at Comerica Park in Detroit! Purchase a ticket to a White Sox game in September 14-17 and receive a Tigers yoga mat, one hour of yoga, and free parking on Yoga Day. *Game happens in September!
When: August 6th @ 9am – 10am
Venue: Comerica Park
4. Evening on the Ave
What: Explore downtown Detroit retail with a night of shopping, cocktails, activities, music and more! Free parking validation in the Z Lot (1234 Library Street) and free Q Line rides!
When: Thursday, August 10th from 5 – 9 PM
Venue: Bird Bee, Bonobos, Citizen Yoga, City Bark, Detroit Bikes, Detroit is the New Black, Detroit Water Ice, House of Pure Vin, John Varvatos, Moosejaw, Nike, Nojo Kicks, Pop up at 1441 Woodward, Red Rose Florist, The Ten Nail Bar, Under Armour, Vault of Midnight, Warby Parker, Woodhouse Day Spa.
5. Paddle boarding “Once Around Belle Isle”
What: Calling all Stand up paddle boarders, kayak and surfski racers! Enter the “Once Around Belle Isle” race, for the ultimate competitive test of stamina on the 7 mile course through the international waters of the Detroit River. You can also just attend the Beach Party, to enjoy live music, great beer and food, and local vendors.
When: August 12th @ 9:30am – 4pm.
Venue: Belle Isle State Park.
Cost: Racers: $60-90, Beach Party: $15 early, $25 day of.
6. Bruno Mars
What: Bruno Mars brings his global, 24k Magic World Tour to the Palace!
When: August 12th @ 8pm – 11pm
Venue: The Palace of Auburn Hills.
7. Fash Bash 2017
What: Check out the newest designs and get your seat at the hottest runway show in Detroit presented by the Founders Junior Council and Neiman Marcus. Includes cocktails, fashion show and Lincoln City Afterglow Party!
When: August 17th, 7-11:45 PM
Venue: Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA)
8. Robocop! The Musical
What: ROBOCOP! The Musical makes its explosive return to the City Theatre with a myriad of new material including a live house band to accompany the talented local cast.
When: August 17th – 26th @ 8pm.
Venue: City Theatre.
9. Woodward Dream Cruise 2017
What: We all know about The Woodward Dream Cruise – since this is the Motor City, embrace it and get in on the fun that attracts 20,000 to 30,000 people. Various events will be taking place both Friday August 18th and Saturday August 19th along the Woodward Strip. Full list of events.
When: Friday August 18th – Saturday, August 19th
Venue: Woodward strip from Detroit to Pontiac
Cost: Free – varies
10. Soiree on the Greenway
What: Soiree on the Greenway is an annual party benefitting the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy – There will be live entertainment, food trucks and cocktails. You’ll also get to witness a mural being created and completed during the event!
When: August 24th, 6 – 10 PM
Venue: The Dequindre Cut Greenway
Cost: Pre-Sale tickets are $40 until August 23rd and $50 at the door. Tickets include: 3 food tickets and 3 drink tickets.
