Dianne Reeves: Christmas Time is Here at the DSO – Dec. 3

Birmingham Winter Mrkt  – Dec. 3 – 5

This weekend downtown Birmingham will be filled with displays from local artists and vendors, European cuisine, thousands of holiday lights, ice sculptures, live entertainment, complimentary carriage rides and more. Kids will love visits with Santa, live reindeer, a Kinderhaus children’s activity area and of course, hot chocolate! The kick off will be held on Friday at 4 pm, which includes the big holiday tree lighting at 6 pm. Saturday is open 10:00 am – 9:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Kris Kringle Market in Downtown Rochester – Dec. 3 & 4

Friday from 4:00 pm  – 10:00 pm
Saturday from 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm 

Head to downtown Rochester for their European style, open-air market featuring fresh greens & wreaths, handcrafted gifts and specialty foods for the holiday. Holiday music will be playing, almonds and kettle corn will be roasting and tents will be decked out with garlands and lights. Food and drinks can be purchased in the warming food tent, where you can buy a commemorative mug filled with Gluhwein (hot spiced wine) or a pint of hand-crafted beer provided by Fieldstone Winery and Rochester Mills Beer Co.. Proceeds from the food tent will go towards local non-profits, Rochester Area Youth Assistance and RARA Recreation.

80’s at the 8 Live Music Festival – Dec. 4

Polish up your Thriller dance moves and head to the Birmingham 8 Powered by Emagine for the ultimate 80’s event! Guests will hear four critically acclaimed 80’s tribute bands on three different stages. Plus there will be food, drinks, 80’s movies playing as well as 80’s retro games and trivia, contests, a breakdancing exhibition and so much more. Tickets are $40 and it’s recommended they are purchased in advance to guarantee entry.

Holly Dickens Festival – Dec. 4 & 5, and Dec. 11 & 12

Head the the quaint Village of Holly to step back in time for the Holly Dickens Festival, the oldest and longest running Dickens Festival in the country! Stroll the streets and lose yourself in the smell of roasting chestnuts, the sounds of Christmas carols and the sight of beautiful decorations. Each day there are various Dicken’s themed events and entertainers like the Chimney Sweep street performers. You might even run into Ebenezer Scrooge himself!
