Aired Out Quilts! Film Premier, Michigan Science Center
On August 6, the Michigan Science Center will be partnering with the Live Coal Gallery as we host the premier of their film, Aired Out Quilts! Aired Out Quilts is a project that tells the oral histories of eight residents of the Greater Detroit area. These quilts use colors, textures, and patterns woven together to create intricate scenes that help share the stories of individuals who have lived in neighborhoods that are either distinct, in transition, enduring or on the edge of abandonment. The project began with these eight individuals “airing out” these quilts by hanging them up outside their homes. Tickets for this show are available online and at the door, but tickets are limited so it is best to purchase them ahead of time. Tickets are $30 each, with portions of the revenue going directly to the Aired Out Quilts project. Purchase tickets here.

Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, Ain’t Too Proud will hit more than 50 cities during its first national tour, and you don’t want to miss the story of the legendary quintet that rose to fame with 42 Top Ten Billboard hits. ticketmaster.com
