SEEN takes first place for its Women’s Issue at the 2018 Folio: Eddie and Ozzie Awards, recognizing the best editorial and design among magazines nationwide.

SEEN Magazine took first place for a full issue in the Midwest category at the 2018 Folio: Eddie and Ozzie Awards on Oct. 9 at the Hilton Midtown in New York City.
SEEN received an Eddie Award for its May 2018 Women’s Issue, which featured women leaders in business, entertainment, health, food, nonprofits and education who are making an impact in Metro Detroit and beyond.
Other finalists in the category included Hour Detroit’s November 2017 issue and the Historical Society of Michigan’s January/February 2018 issue.
SEEN also received an honorable mention in the immersive and interactive storytelling category for its use of the Blippar app for readers to take a 3D home tour of Mat and Emily Ishbia’s Bloomfield home in the March 2018 issue. The 3D home tour was created by SEEN contributing photographer Brett Mountain.
Publisher Kevin Browett started SEEN as a hyper local monthly lifestyle magazine for Metro Detroiters over four years ago. The team includes COO Amy Gill, Managing Editor Stephanie Steinberg, Creative Director Michelle Sheridan, Fashion Director Rachel Schostak, Copyeditor Dorothy Hernandez, Social Media Specialist Chelsie Dzbanski, Client Relations Director Andrea Gusho and Sales Director Christine Cook. Contributing photographer Boswell Hardwick took the cover photo for the May issue.
“It is a huge honor and a tribute to the best team in the industry,” Browett says. “Starting a print product in today’s world and in the Midwest is no easy task, but when you bring together the talents and the dedication of what SEEN is, the result is the best of the best.”
According to Folio, a panel of over 300 judges reviewed over 2,500 entries nationwide. In total, 263 awards were granted across 33 categories. See the full list of winners here.
