1. Josh York
York Project founder Josh York started the social streetwear company in 2012 when he hand stitched his last name into a maroon beanie and began selling them to his friends at local music shows. Today, the York Project has evolved beyond just beanies and is designed to give back to the homeless. For each product sold, York Project provides a donation kit, which includes a durable tote bag, toilet paper, socks and bottled water, to a homeless person. Since 2012, York Project has made over 24,000 donations in 23 American cities. 2. Carlotta Tutt Halloway
Carlotta Tutt Halloway is a creative business maven making big waves in Detroit. With two businesses under her belt, marketing firm True Root Marketing and The She Is Project, an experiential education organization that supports entrepreneurial women, Carlotta is taking her girl boss title to the next level. She is an art, culture and community advocate who loves the heartbeat of Detroit — and not to mention has some killer fashion sense. 3. Hina Cheema
That’s Dr. Hina Cheema to you! Hina Cheema is a Michigan-based OBGYN and robotic surgeon who is also a wife, a mother of two and one stylish mega-babe! When she’s not busy being a doctor (no big deal) or taking care of her family, Hina shares everything from medicine, motherhood and marriage on her Instagram account @storyofstyle. 4. Ryan Redoute
With a passion for singing, Ryan Redoute currently sings in the PRISM Men’s chorus, a chorus designed for gay men and allies, and shares his vocal talents with the rest of the world on his YouTube channel TallBlondMan. Ryan also started his own digital marketing company this year called Dynamo which focuses on creating and running digital marketing efforts for business in Metro Detroit. Katie Rogers is a passionate and dedicated teacher who works as a Detroit Public Schools Community District K-5 Math Master Teacher. She works to model best practices and generate useful materials for the school, while also working alongside other teachers as an instructional coach. Katie started a blog called thecityteacher.com to help connect her classroom and school to community partners in Metro Detroit and beyond. Her online presence has aided in the donation of many necessary supplies such as 2,000 donated books and hundreds of cases of water shipped directly to her school when the school’s water supply was shut off earlier this year. Katie also uses her blog to also explore a few personal interests of her own, including style and beauty topics after so many people started inquiring about her outfit details! Professional MMA fighter by day, YouTube vlogger by night. Josh Brueckner spends his days training and hosting boxing style group workouts at the Title Boxing Club and by night he crafts vlogs with his giflriend Katie Betzing for their YouTube channel, Jatie Vlogs. From videos about their daily life, travels and funny pranks that they pull on each other, Josh and Katie have racked up over 168,000 YouTube subscribers.
