Florine Mark, founder and CEO of Weight Watchers, hosted a reMARKable event that brought 650 attendees out to honor women in the Metro Detroit area.

The event began with a luncheon, which included a live performance by the Cass Technical High School jazz band.

As the program began, Mark spoke about the history of the event and how it has evolved to what it is today. She then introduced Motown legend Martha Reeves who performed one of her songs for the crowd.

Mark also brought out two keynote speakers for the event, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Dingell expressed the importance of women coming together and supporting one another, while Whitmer discussed her journey and the struggles she has faced as a woman.

The event ended with a question-and-answer session with Dingell, Whitmer and women news anchors from channel 2, 4 and 7 — Deena Centofanti, Rhonda Walker and Glenda Lewis retrospectively.
