Have you ever wondered what it’s like inside an actual mansion? We have partnered with DOBI to take our audience behind the SEEN in some of Metro Detroit’s most interesting and beautiful homes in a new video series hosted by our own Cassie Kunze.
For our first episode of Home SEEN, we met up with Doug Rahaim and Lauren Himle to explore an incredible custom-built home in Grosse Pointe Shores. And this isn’t just any home — Rahaim’s grandfather built the home from the ground up. He shared all the details that make it more than just another luxury house, but a beautiful home set apart by unique features.
Stone Cold Fabulous
The 13,277-square-foot home was custom-built from top to bottom, featuring some of the most luxurious stones and materials in the world. The exterior is made of hand-laid limestone bricks with a slate roof.
Venetian plaster walls are punctuated with hand-carved limestone fireplaces and incredible floor-to-ceiling windows with leaded glass. One of the special features is the heated Jerusalem limestone floors, with light gray, cream and honey tones that highlight the fossils within the stone.
In addition to the four bedrooms, five full baths, three half-baths and 162 feet of Lake St. Clair, the home features a pool and pool house as well as a finished basement with a pool room, gym, spa and movie theater, making this house the ultimate entertainer’s dream home!
They say the kitchen is the heart of a home, and this kitchen is no exception. It is a foodie’s dream with custom Wood-Mode cabinetry, 60-inch Wolf dual fuel ovens with a French cooktop, double sub zero refrigerator and freezers. But what really steals the show is the sweeping view of Lake St. Clair!
