Meet 8 individuals making a difference in their communities

As the old saying goes, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” — and that couldn’t be more true for the group of people we’re featuring in our third annual Changemaker Awards. From a veteran educator dedicated to nurturing young minds to a pair of sisters providing opportunities to aspiring fashion designers across Detroit to a law student feeding the city’s homeless, we bring you the stories of eight people who, despite the challenges of 2020, found a way to positively impact their communities. They all deserve our thanks — as do you, our readers who nominated them and voted on the winners in each category. Here, we bring you their inspiring stories.
