Our Cinco De Mayo Gift to You: A Recipe for A Fresh, Easy-to-Make Mango Margarita

Turn up your Cinco De Mayo with this simple, refreshing mango margarita

Margaritas and Cinco De Mayo go hand-in-hand. This year, swap the the typical lime-flavored cocktail for a refreshing, not-too sweet mango version that incorporates fresh fruit and a pinch of heat. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

Makes 2-4 servings

  • 2-3 ripe mangos
  • 1-2 limes
  • All natural margarita mix of your choice. I used Powell & Mahoney’s Skinny Margarita mix.
  • Tequila of your choice
  • Course salt
  • Tajin

Directions: 

Cut up 2-3 mangos into small to medium sized chunks. For instructions on how to cut a mango watch this.

Place all mango pieces into a blender. Add 1/2 cup of the all natural margarita mix and 1/3 cup of water to the blender. Blend until smooth. (The mango should be pureed, not thin and juice-like. To get it to your desired consistency, continue adding more water.)

Mix 2 tablespoons of course salt and 2 tablespoons of Tajin onto a plate.

Cut 1 lime into 4 wedges. Slice a small slit across the middle of a lime wedge (do not cut all the way through the lime) and run the lime wedge along the rim of your glass to get it “sticky.”

Remove the lime wedge and dip the rim of the glass into the salt and Tajin mixture on the plate. The salt mixture should stick to the rim of the glass.

Fill the glass with ice and pour in 1.5 – 2 ounces of tequila (depending on your preference) over the ice.

Next, pour in the mango puree, leaving about a half inch near the top of the glass.

Top off the glass with a one to two splashes of margarita mix and stir well to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge.
