Jet Set Chic: Your Guide To Resort Wear 2017

February 6, 2017
By Rachel Schostak

We are officially in resort season, which means many of us take trips to warm-weather climates. There’s nothing like jet-setting away to warmer weather during these cold Michigan months. Make sure your resort wardrobe is ready for your winter travels. Think about Bridget Bardot vacationing on the beaches of St. Tropez. You should have your own fashionable moments — no matter which beach you are headed to.

I had the pleasure of talking with owner of SHE stores and fashion expert Sharon EisenshtadtLocally, everyone knows SHE is the best place to shop for resort. Sharon and her team will help style you in the perfect resort getaway looks.

Known for its variety on selling the best of bathing suits, cover-ups, accessories and complete outfits from head-to-toe, SHE has you covered. This was clear to me as I met with Sharon a few weeks ago in her store, and customers kept coming in going directly to the “resort shop.” Knowing this, I wanted to find out from Sharon what she loves about resort season, her favorite styles and, of course, her go-to packing tips.

As a busy business owner, it is hard for Sharon to get away, which makes her annual winter vacation to Mexico with her husband her happy place and very special, she says.

It’s important to take a break from work, and she’s fortunate she can get away to the warm and sunny weather. From pool days, to excursions, yoga and, of course, romantic dinners with her husband, she truly makes the most out of her time away. In terms of her resort wardrobe, she thinks of her “daytime experience” as a “nighttime experience” when planning outfits — which means it’s just as important to be put together in the daytime as it is for the evenings.

Don’t wait until the last minute to pack, Sharon says. Start a few days before and lay out all the clothes and accessories you want to wear based on your itinerary (even if you have a week of pool days). Put specific outfits together for daytime activities and your evenings, too. You can see everything and add things as needed.

Bathing suits, cover-ups or even a cute sun dress to throw on during the day are essentials, Sharon says. Lightweight and breathable items, such as tank tops that go with various bottoms (from denim cut offs, white jeans, or even linen pants), lightweight blouses, dresses and even a basic black dress that you can dress up with accessories are must-haves, too. Be sure to pack a beach tote, playful beach bag, cute clutches, your makeup travel case, a pair of wedges and flip flops and a great pair of sunglasses. Add some easy cool travel jewelry.

Editor’s style note: If you pack right, you can transition your daytime look into the perfect night outfit by adding unique jewelry.

*All of these items are available to shop at SHE.
