Tell us about your holiday look:

It’s a blend of casual and festive — a chunky sweater and sport coat paired with carded-flannel trousers and suede Chelsea boots. You can’t forget the colorful neckerchief, which will round out any holiday outfit.

What’s your ideal outfit for …An office party?

A suit or sport coat with a cashmere turtleneck.

A gathering of family and friends?

A sweater jacket with a luxurious, brushed-cotton flannel shirt and a dressy wool five- pocket jean with suede chukka boots.

New Year’s Eve?

It’s “amateur night.” We stay at home in our Derek Rose loungewear.

DEVIN MULDOON

Devin Muldoon is the digital marketing director at Carl Sterr and co-founder of forthcoming e-commerce brand Sterr & Doon.

This year I’m spreading out the styles. There will be nights at the family country club where I want to dress in a festive dinner jacket. There will also be house parties where I rock a beautiful Irish wool sweater or a fine, Italian-crafted cashmere jacket with a festive pocket square and neckerchief/tie.

Wear something that steps it up a notch: a satin or velvet dinner jacket with some color; an Italian-crafted sport coat and a dress trouser with core patterns like herringbones, houndstooths, twills or plaids. And if you’re going to an ugly-Christmas-sweater party, seek out the clever pieces — they’re amazing conversation starters.

I’ll be on the more casual side with a chunky sweater under my oversized wool chore jacket (a beautiful jacket that I use in the winter when sitting by outdoor fires), Moleskin 5-Pocket pants and Alden lace-up suede boots. It’s one of those outfits where you aren’t overdressed but are clearly put-together.

New Year’s Eve?

My wife and I enjoy celebrating with our family — however, nothing beats a big event with everyone dressed to impress. A client recently said to me, “I’m tired of dressing down when I go to gatherings because that’s what everyone else is doing.” I wholeheartedly agree.

It’s pretty simple yet chic and festive. I went with a black bell-bottom jean that’s super stretchy because comfort is key, and I paired it with a super-cute black sequin top and a pair of mules with a satin bow.

Stick to the dress code you follow when working and make it festive by adding sequins or something sparkly. A nice pair of trousers and a festive top with a cute pair of pumps should do the trick.

A gathering of family and friends?

Keep it cute and casual. I’m picturing a sweater, jeans, a cute pair of booties and a red lip. You can never go wrong with a red lip or nails around the holidays.

New Year’s Eve?

I used to be Team Get Fancy and Party All Night but these days my family will dress up and go to dinner and then come home and play board games and drink champagne.

My cape is a heavyweight bouclé knit in a rich raspberry shade, and it complements the shimmer and shine of the holiday season so beautifully. My pants are animal-friendly vegan leather, and my top adds a bit of understated sparkle. I’ll be wearing this to sip mulled-wine cocktails with girlfriends!

What’s your ideal outfit for …An office party?

I love jewel tone-on-tone looks: think emerald green velvet pants with a softer shade of green silk top, for example, or a tweed pencil skirt and cashmere sweater. Mixing winter textures in similar shades with conservative pieces is always my go-to.

A gathering of family and friends?

I default to leather — leather skinny pants or a skirt, with a flirty blouse tucked in. Warmth and comfort are top priority. You still need to be able to cozy up and eat all of the things!

New Year’s Eve?

My husband and I get dressed up, cook a fabulous dinner and then have a dance party before putting our girls to bed early. Then we retreat to a cozy fire in our living room with charcuterie.
