Saks Fifth Avenue at the Somerset Collection in Troy toasted spring’s most glamorous trends and “must-haves” at its Glam Garden event. Shelli Pacioni, style manager of the Fifth Avenue Club, presented stunning fashions from Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci as well as from Chanel’s iconic French fashion house and others.
Pacioni created various looks to demonstrate the trends. For example, she presented an exquisite muted pink, laser-cut-lace dress with an asymmetrical hemline and tee straps from Nicholas. She then paired it with a brocade-look Gucci mule that’s smooth to the touch and a pink YSL purse with the chain worn over one shoulder and stopping at the hip.
A Dolce & Gabbana floral print skirt was combined with a white Chanel blouse that sported a mandarin collar. Pacioni suggested wearing the skirt with a nude Manolo pump or, for an alternate look, a Louboutin leopard print pump. The skirt went elegantly into eveningwear when coupled with a black top.
Chanel’s new line for spring is focused on airplanes and travel. For example, “flying Chanel” includes larger buttons indicative of airplane wings and a unique “propeller bag” that’s perfect for in-flight convenience. Large hoop earrings attached to a rhinestone “wheel cog” clip on to add dazzle any outfit.
Will Dobrolenski, cosmetic sales manager, discussed “must-haves” that generate rebirth for the skin. Swiss-based Cellcosmet released a skin care line with plant-based stem cells and essential oils that was previously available only in European spas. He calls
Cellective CellLift Serum “Botox in a bottle” because of its fast lifting and tightening results.
La Prairie has introduced a product that Dobrolenski calls a “game changer.” It’s a cellular lift foundation with a surprisingly light cream texture that comes in many shades and broad-spectrum SPF coverage.
Laura Mercier’s bronze highlighter compact for spring contains blush and coordinating eyeshadow to make the face look as though it were kissed by the sun.
YSL’s Volupte shine lipstick has incredible staying power that makes it the new favorite among celebrities. It has a remarkable glossy finish and comes in 26 colors.
During the presentations, Daniel Lott, beauty specialist for Giorgio Armani, performed a live makeup application on model and stylist Michelle Hutchins. He gave this beauty a soft matte finish with Armani champagne powder and blush to highlight her cheeks. He finished with Armani runway gloss lipstick in pink before adding a touch of clear pearl gloss for a voluptuous pop.
Anyone even considering a makeover for spring must stop by Saks for the finest fashions and makeup to complement any look. NS
