DETROIT— The MATI Group returns on March 20th and 21st at the Tangent Gallery for “The Detroit Artist Ball 4: The Electric Kool-Aid Art Test.” It will be a celebration of Detroit Music and Art. The Detroit Artist Ball will feature over 40 Detroit area artists and musicians.

About The MATI Group
The MATI Group are Evans Tasiopoulos, Dave Messy and Marc Tice. For the last decade they have curated art exhibitions comprised of unknown and emerging artists from throughout the city in an effort to create a unified artistic community. Since 2006, they have presented 25 exhibitions as the MATI Group featuring 1040 artists and attended by over 17,200 people.

Evans Tasiopoulos; His photography and artwork have been featured at the MONA Museum, The Scarab Club, at the Marleen Boll Theatre. His photography has been published in Pure Michigan Magazine, Grosse Pointe Magazine and the Detroit News. His work has also been celebrated internationally in galleries such as The Palazzo Flangini in Venice, Italy; Millepiani Exhibition Space in Rome, Italy; and has been featured on the Greek television network Antenna in Athens, Greece. Recently, Tasiopoulos’ photography is on permanent display in the lobby of the GM Renaissance Center.
David Messerschmidt; is the founder of Dave Messy Art. Dave is also a self-taught artist from the Detroit area. Dave is a larger than life character with one of the kindest hearts you will ever encounter. His personality is reflected in his work….work filled with love and beauty for life.
Marc Tice; Has been a lifelong artist in many different mediums. Pen and ink, Paint (oil and acrylic mostly), Computer Graphics, etc. Now-a-days, in addition to all that, He is a Professional, Licensed, and Certified Tattoo Artist working at 13th Hour since 2010. He’s a big fan of a number of different styles and love putting different influences together to create original art for customers. Influences include Renaissance Masters, Modern Surrealists, Comic artists and any number of amazing tattooists from around the world.
