Covid, Kids and our Mental Health

Virtual

With many public schools moving to in-person and hybrid models for late fall, many of us have questions surrounding the welfare and safety of our children. At the same time, many parents and kids are feeling overwhelmed and isolated by remote learning. Maintaining a household with working parents and school-age children is increasingly hard and tensions are running high. With so much uncertainty and struggle, where do you turn?   SEEN Magazine has gathered a panel of medical experts to discuss the concerns around COVID, children returning to in-person instruction, the importance of physical distancing yet remaining social and mental health management for the people navigating these extraordinary obstacles.

Virtual

Dutton Farm, a nonprofit dedicated to seeing all people with disabilities treated with equality, announces its first-ever Celebration of Progress presented by Trion Solutions. Held on October 22 at 6:30pm and again on October 23 at 10:30am, Celebration of Progress: A Pathway to Inclusion & Steps Toward Equality will be an online virtual experience allowing guests to learn more about the history of disability advocacy in America, the progress that has been made, and the pathway to the future of equality. For over ten years, Dutton Farm has firmly advocated that every person has the right to equal opportunities, meaningful work, and a right to make their own decisions. Harvest Treats

MI

RTTM Community Center is hosting our Annual Harvest Treats Giveaway community event on October 31 2020 to pass out treats to the residents of Van Dyke and the District 3 area of Detroit. We are striving to make a difference and impact in the lives of inner city residents of Detroit. Many parents worry about sending their children out to "Trick-or-Treat". They worry about what their children are receiving, who they are receiving the treats from, and about the people they come across but despite these concerns, many parents ultimately allow their children to go out. We are located on Detroit's Eastside, a commonly overlooked and avoided neighborhood. We strive to provide the community a safe, loving, fully stocked buffet of treats and eats that are in their own backyard. With enormous pride, we take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as one-stop, wholesome, furnished, smorgasbord of all the desired harvest treats and eats for the community we serve.
