Some Enchanted Evening® October 15-24, open’s Grosse Pointe Theatre’s 74th Season

Grosse Pointe Theatre will open its 74th season with Some Enchanted Evening® – the Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, running Oct. 15-24. The show offers a stunning collection Rodgers and Hammerstein compositions, including “Shall We Dance” from The King and I; “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair” from South Pacific; “Soliloquy” from Carousel, and many others. Don Bischoff of Macomb Township is directing the show. The multi-talented cast includes Ryan Bowie of Detroit; Danielle Caralis of Birmingham; Kimberly Elliott of Canton; Kristina Kamm Mardlin of Warren; and Zak Shugart of Troy. “This is the perfect show for our return to the stage,” said Bischoff. “The music of Rodgers and Hammerstein is familiar to everyone and is sure to make audiences smile. Our incredibly talented cast brings these songs to life, and the entire production will offer an enchanting experience for our guests.” Grosse Pointe Theatre has put several safety precautions in place. All audience members are required to wear face masks, and vaccinations are required for all cast and crew members. Soap-Making 101 Workshop

Have you ever wondered how to make natural handmade soap? Here is your chance! Learn to make soap the traditional way, using a method called Cold Process. This class will give you safety tips as well as a beginner's Cold Process soap recipe. Each class combines a demo and directions to make a 1/5lb batch of scented and colored soap. We will review various soap ingredients including oils and butters, and most importantly lye safety. Each student will receive a pack of handouts with recipes, ingredients, and soap making instructions. Please dress in an old long sleeved shirt, jeans or sweats. Bring rubber gloves, a face mask and goggles. Come enjoy, have fun and make natural handmade soap with me, NIEMA STONE! ​MUST BE 13 YEARS OR OLDER.

JARC at M1

Local nonprofit JARC, a metro Detroit based nonprofit agency that serves individuals with developmental disabilities, is hosting a fall fundraising event featuring thrill rides around M1’s Champion Motor Speedway, live music performances by the Mega ’80s band and other special music guests, and ‘80’s arcade games. The unique, fun and at times exhilarating event will also offer an open bar, dinner and the largest outdoor event tent in Michigan at M1’s newly renovated two-story event center. A special VIP event will feature an opportunity for VIP ticket holders to drive a Dodge Hellcat on the M1 racetrack with a 30-minute pre-drive safety session and a six-lap drive around the track following a lead car.
