Learn how to get from a graphic design to a printed poster in six hours. In this small hands-on class (limit 4 students), we go through the steps of preparing transparencies, coating and exposing screens, setting up a print job, printing with water-based ink, and cleaning up. Ten sheets of 12.5" x 19" paper are included in the class fee; you may bring more if you'd like. We will provide the two-color artwork for you to print. This class is great for anyone who has never done silk screen printing, and those who have but would like to brush up on their skills. This class can be preceded by our Intro to T-shirts, or followed up with our Intermediate T-shirt class for anyone who does not have screen printing experience but would like to become a member to print at our shop. Please note that due to the nature of screen printing, we will be standing for much of the class. There will be an approximate 1-hour lunch in the middle of the day. The Junior League of Birmingham, MI (JLB) is hosting the Fourth Annual Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) Luncheon on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at The Village Club in Bloomfield Hills to increase awareness of the challenges facing women in poverty in our area. Proceeds from this year’s event will go toward funding the League’s numerous community programs that support women in crisis in Oakland County. Tickets and sponsorships start at $60 and are available now at jlbham.org/events. Attendees will enjoy a full Village Club luncheon, raffle prizes, and a keynote address by Edee Franklin, founder and president of Sanctum House in Royal Oak. The Winter Gala Fundraiser,raising funds to add office space for the Treehouse Staff. What better space to have a office than on the gardens in nature. Definitely a stress reliever for staff and visitors. The space is a much needed space for the community and visitors outside of the community. A space ran off of solar power, individual and family can receive mental health services and healthy foods. Community Treehouse Center Detroit will provides a safe, creative, and supportive learning environment that focuses on the mental and physical well-being of the community and metro area with a unique focus on persons with disabilities. Our programs promote collaboration with a multicultural understanding and diversity in counseling processes. Specific programs include horticultural therapy, mentorship services, greening and growing, health food preparation and education, creativity and arts programming, sustainability and green technology, personal finance and budgeting. The Manistique Treehouse project will be a 400 square foot ADA wheelchair accessible six sided building. Over 120 feet of ramps and platforms will lead from the sidewalk up to the structure and surrounding decks. The structure will be 10 feet off of the ground.
