Seven vehicles to make your heart race.
By Matthew Totsky
It’s that time of year again — when the entire world descends on Detroit for the North American International Auto Show and a look at some of the hottest new vehicles on the planet. And because this is the Motor City, auto enthusiasts will want to know where to find some of these amazing rides.
LICENSE TO THRILL
If you’ve seen the latest James Bond thriller Spectre, you’ve seen Daniel Craig’s 007 behind the wheel of the Aston Martin DB9 Bond Edition. Only 150 were built globally and No. 97 is sitting in the showroom at Aston Martin of Troy.
“This car is a true collector’s edition,” says Brian Bucholtz, sales manager at Aston Martin of Troy. “Our brand has a very special relationship with 007, extending back for 50 years now. In the run-up to Spectre, we wanted to celebrate our partnership with the launch of this extremely limited vehicle. All Aston Martins are special, but this particular one is extra-special.”
The DB9 Bond Edition has a MSRP of $240,000 and delivers all of the performance and handling driving enthusiasts have to come to expect from Aston Martin. But there are several features that make it truly stand out.
“The first thing you notice about it is the color — a bespoke Spectre Silver that is only available on this vehicle,” Bucholtz says. “It also comes with exclusive Sterling Silver wings badges and a special limited-edition ‘Bond’ badge that sits discreetly on the front fender.
“Another cool thing is a special leather briefcase included with each vehicle, just like the one Daniel Craig carries in Spectre,” he adds. “Each one contains an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m James Bond Limited Edition watch complete with a unique Aston Martin strap, and an ECU [electronic control unit] pouch to match the car’s interior. There’s also a glass key and a bottle of champagne. How cool is that?”

A TURBO-CHARGED FUTURE
In 2016, the next chapter of Porsche 911 begins. The second-generation 911 will have a pair of turbochargers to boost power and torque while lowering emissions and fuel consumption. With a starting MSRP of $89,400, it promises to deliver all that drivers have come to expect from Porsche.
“It’s a big shift for Porsche because we’re going from normally aspirated engines without superchargers to turbo-charged engines,” says Andy Yakima, the certified brand ambassador at Fred Lavery Porsche in Birmingham. “This vehicle will not only offer better performance, but it will be better for the environment as well. It’s a smaller engine so it uses less fuel, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint.”
The 911 Gen 2 was officially unveiled at the Frankfurt show in September and since then it’s been one of the most highly anticipated vehicles on the horizon. “The temperature in the Porsche community is one filled with anticipation,” Yakima says. “Messing with the holy grail of Porsche is always risky, but this company has an amazing track record, and the latest and greatest is guaranteed to be spectacular.”

DAWN OF A NEW BREED
The Jaguar F-PACE is the first-ever SUV from the luxury carmaker. The F-PACE takes the legendary Jaguar performance, handling and luxury, and adds practicality and space. The technologically advanced SUV is a performance vehicle with maximum driving exhilaration and state-of-the-art technology and connectivity.
“F-PACE will deliver the performance for every road and the capacity for every day,” says Brian Cupler, sales manager at Jaguar of Troy. “This is a Jaguar for the driver, a Jaguar for an active lifestyle.”
The F-PACE is visually inspired by the lines, curves and proportions of the Jaguar design philosophy. From the hood bulge to the pronounced rear haunches, the F-PACE is a performance SUV that has the DNA of a sports car. Its highly advanced aerodynamic design helps reduce drag and wind noise, while increasing down force, for improved efficiency, refinement and handling. It will also have an aluminum body for better performance and fuel economy.
“The F-PACE was first announced this past September at the Geneva Auto Show,” Cupler says. “And ever since, people have been coming in to ask when they can order one. We should see them in our showroom in the spring of 2016, with a MSRP starting at $40,990. This new price point is significantly lower than most Jaguars, which start around $60,000.”

EXOTIC CARS PULSING WITH POSSIBILITIES
As a sales associate at the Suburban Collection of Troy, Mark Davis gets to work with some of the most exciting vehicles on our roads, including Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti. Each manufacturer has something to offer in the near future that’s guaranteed to get the adrenaline rushing for driving enthusiasts.
Whether the roof is up, down or in motion, the Dawn promises a driving experience that’s unmistakably Rolls-Royce. The convertible’s classic design principles are coupled with the latest technology, dynamic angles and a sleek surface. The contemporary interior is a true four-seater; Dawn is an experience designed to be shared with friends.
“The Dawn won’t be available until next summer, but it’s already generating a lot of heat,” Davis says. “This model is aimed at a younger, contemporary crowd, with a starting MSRP around $335,000.”
The Bentley Bentayga is an SUV that takes the class to a new level. Imposing and capable, Bentayga was conceived and crafted to open up a realm of luxury and performance previously unattainable in an SUV.
“It comes with a vast range of options coupled with groundbreaking technology, making for a unique and unexpected ride,” Davis says. “It promises to be the most powerful SUV on the planet, with a starting MSRP of $229,000. Look for it at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.”
Another much-anticipated SUV is the Lamborghini Urus. “This is really one to look forward to,” Davis says. “It’s the brand’s first SUV since 1993. The performance is focused more on-road than off-road so it’s more like a supercar than SUV.” The price has not yet been released by Lamborghini.
Finally, there’s the Bugatti Chiron. Launched at the Geneva Auto Show in March, its price point has yet to be determined. “This is the next chapter of the Bugatti story,” Davis says. “There’s not a lot I can say about it because I’m under a confidentiality agreement. If you Google it now, there is not a lot of accurate information out there. Everything is top secret about this vehicle, so auto aficionados will just have to wait and see.” NS
