Three easy, creative recipes for homemade avocado toast that are sure to satisfy any craving

Avocados are versatile, delicious and nutritious: This creamy green fruit atop a lightly toasted piece of bread not only provides health benefits, but also leaves you feeling satisfied. It tastes even better if you jazz it up with some creative additions. Here are a few ideas:

The Sunny Side

Avocado Toast with Egg

Ingredients: 

Makes 1 serving

  • 1 slice of your bread of choice, toasted
  • 1/2 mashed,  medium hass avocado
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. of Olive Oil
  • sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • red chili flakes, optional

Directions: In a small bowl, mash the avocado and season with sea salt and pepper. Over low heat, heat a nonstick pan, add olive oil and gently crack the large egg into the skillet. Cover and cook to your desire. Place avocado mash over toast, top with the egg, and add the red chili flakes for a kick! Enjoy!

The Sweet Tooth

Strawberry Avocado Toast

Ingredients:

Makes 1 serving

  • 1 slice of your bread of choice, toasted
  • 1/2 mashed,  medium hass avocado
  • 2 medium sliced strawberries
  • 1 tsp. of lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. of honey
  • pinch of sea salt
  • pinch of fresh mint or dried mint

Directions: 

In a small bowl, mash the avocado, add lemon juice, and season with sea salt. Place avocado mash over toast, top with strawberries, drizzled honey, and mint. Serve.

The Taste of the Sea

Salmon Avocado Toast Ingredients: 

Makes 1 serving

  • 1 slice of your bread of choice, toasted
  • 1/2  mashed,  medium hass avocado
  • 2 slices tomato from 1 medium tomato
  • 2 thin round slices of red onion
  • 2 pieces of thinly sliced  smoked salmon
  • 1 tsp. of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • sprinkle of feta cheese
  • sea salt and black pepper

Directions: In a small bowl, mash the avocado, add lemon juice, and season with sea salt. Place avocado mash over toast. Next place sliced tomato, onion, and salmon adding the black pepper on top. Finally sprinkle feta cheese. Enjoy!
