Dorothy is a native Chicagoan who moved to Detroit for a boy and a job and never left. While the boy and the job are no longer in the picture (no worries, she has a great job and even better boy), she loves saying she is from Detroit wherever she goes. Dorothy studied print journalism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and went on to work for newspapers such as The Detroit News and the Chicago Tribune's RedEye edition. She's also the former managing editor of Hour Detroit and storyteller for the City of Detroit. A marketing and communications manager for a nonprofit by day, she freelances for publications such as Midwest Living, Eater Detroit and Model D by night. Whenever she's not writing, you can find her trying a new recipe for her Filipino pop-up restaurant called Sarap, listening to true crime podcasts, and daydreaming about her next trip.
