Davey is a senior at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he studies writing. He grew up in the neighboring town Ypsilanti, living on a horse-farm outside the city. He loves animals and the outdoors and found photography to be a great way to see them. His professional debut as a photojournalist came during his time at Michigan Tech, working for the university press there, The LODE. On the "silent-sport" beat, Davey covered rock-and ice-climbers, 180 mile dogsled races and rally-car competitions across the upper peninsula of Michigan. It was through those stories that he found his passion for storytelling, causing him to transfer to U of M, and change careers from engineering to writing. He's also a passionate musician, playing the piano, guitar and cello.
