Alana, a Metro Detroit native, is a freshman at Oberlin College, where she hopes to study creative writing. In June 2017, she and her siblings founded KidsRead2Kids.com, a nonprofit website designed for children with learning disabilities. Since its founding, KidsRead2Kids has received many accolades, including the 2018 Parents’ Choice Award and the 2018 Digital Media of the Year Award for Top Educational Website from Creative Child Magazine. Along with her siblings, Alana is an ambassador for the Kid Zone! of the National Center on Improving Literacy (NCIL) and were speakers at the International Dyslexia Annual Conference this past October. Alana was featured in SEEN Magazine for being a 2018 Young Changemaker in Metro Detroit and is beyond thrilled to get to work behind-the-scenes. At Oberlin College, she is a member of the Entrepreneurship Club, and helped put together their yearly Startup Weekend. Before leaving home, Alana was involved in similar endeavors, including BBYO’s Building Entrepreneurship Program — where she won the Shark Tank Competition for KidsRead2Kids — and the Jewish Fund Teen Board. In her free time, she loves to write, sing, act, dance, and play the harp.
