View from the 27th Floor: Caesars becomes a new luxury venue in Windsor.

Upon entering, there is competition between the view and the wafting aroma of the chefs’ tables as to where to run first.

The view of Detroit from the new Augustus 27 at the Caesars Windsor Resort will take your breath away. But the alluring aroma of the Asian dishes prepared to order by the chef and the trays of sushi had a strong hold on other senses.

The answer: a Szechuan chicken rice bowl, a sampling of Maki, California and vegetable rolls, and freshly prepared mushroom risotto to go — on the balcony for the panoramic views overlooking the skyline and waterfront.

All with the beverage, spirits, wine or beer of your choice served from two bars. This place will make anyone feel like a Roman god.

The Augustus 27 room is an open space that can be configured for corporate events, weddings and receptions, conferences and other special events. It’s where ultra-modern meets industrial chic. Dramatic tiered lighting, which matches the opulence of the skyline and waterfront, exposes the infrastructure and beams. Decor includes hand-rubbed leather, concrete flooring with textured suede, steel paneled walls, richly colored porcelain tile, and glass walls and doors.

At almost 9,100 square feet, including 930 square feet of outside balcony, the Augustus holds up to 240 guests. The floor is dotted with high-top tables and guests flow through the room sampling delicacies from the food stations. Live music from Stiletto Fire lends exactly the right touch.

The hotel offers packages for those who want to stay or extend their adventure to the gaming tables and slots, or enjoy the spa or nightlife at the casino.

Executive Chef Patrick McClary originated and prepared the dishes for the evening reception, including a chilled seafood bar with king crab cocktails and panko-crusted lobster.

The Viva Italia table had cheeses, Genoa salami and Prosciutto di Parma and grilled vegetables, among other dishes. The culinary extravagance of the food deserves high praise.

The atmosphere ignites your senses. Augustus 27 is a destination; it becomes an event you want to share with your friends. They will not forget it. NS
