Alternatives For Girls hosted its annual Role Model Celebration on March 30 at the MGM Grand Detroit.
The event celebrated the accomplishments of extraordinary women in the community and the achievements of the young women AFG serves. The 2022 event theme, “Color in Dreams — Finding Purpose and Positivity,” is part of AFG’s year-long 35th anniversary celebration.Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner, and silent auction.
AFG presented Role Model Awards to four women in the Detroit community: Alma Crossley, General Motors; Sabrina Galloway, Galloway Group, LLC; Dr. Gwendolyn Parker, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; and Kim Ray, Ford Motor Credit Company.Alternatives For Girls’ mission is to help homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy, and exploitation, and help them to explore and access the support, resources, and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong, and to make positive choices in their lives. Founded in 1987, AFG is a Detroit nonprofit organization.
