I am Danielle. Project manager by day, lifestyle blogger by night. Lover all things pinot grigio and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I currently reside in the Detroit area and love every single minute of it. I truly believe people don’t give Detroit enough credit for being “trendy” or “stylish.” It’s a huge city filled with amazing, unique people who contribute their own flare all around “The D.” With that being said, here’s a little taste of what my day and style typically look like when spring blooms here in Michigan.

Morning Work Out

First things first, hitting Jabs Gym in Birmingham. When working out, I love having fun with my fitness style, but I understand that there is a fine line between practical and ridiculous. My go-to workout pieces are high-quality solids, anything with a fun pattern and unique local tees.

A Detroit-based brand that I really like is Kiloh + Co. This graphic Detroit tee is perfect for the gym or lounging around the house. Add a fun mesh legging, and you’re ready to kill it at the gym!

SHOP: Detroit love tee from Kiloh +Co. and black mesh leggings (shop similar).

Now, it’s time to incorporate some color. These leggings are from Lululemon, which is a fairly new retailer addition to the downtown Detroit scene. I love the pattern, feel and overall spring vibe they give off. I paired these leggings with a white Lululemon tank to help them stand out more. I’m all about stocking up on solid pieces for my workouts because they are easy to mix and match with everything, especially when I’m getting ready for that early morning grind.

SHOP: White tank top and printed leggings (shop similar) both from Lululemon.

Afternoon Brunch Downtown

Post gym, who isn’t hungry for a good brunch? Breakfast food is hands down my favorite! Whether it’s sipping mimosas on a patio in the heart of Campus Martius, or checking out a hot spot in Midtown that serves up some seriously Instagramable dishes, I love checking out new restaurants around Detroit. Some of my current favorites spots for brunch are Townhouse, Gold Cash Gold and Bobcat Bonnie’s.

For brunching, I like to keep my look comfy and casual. I snagged this denim on denim look from Ferne Boutique in Bay City, Michigan. I recommend this local Michigan boutique to anyone who’s looking for casual, affordable styles. And the best part is, they are in the midst of finalizing their downtown Detroit location! You can thank me later.

SHOP: Grey oversized denim jacket and distressed boyfriend jeans, both from Ferne Boutique; black tee (shop similar); and gold mirrored sunglasses (shop similar).

Date Night in the City

Now let’s glam it up for a date night in the city. I love the versatile vibe Detroit gives off, especially at night. You can find so many hidden gems that allow you to play up your style — anything goes!

My fiancé Sam and I love taking the time to walk around before or after we grab a cocktail or dinner. If we’re not enjoying a custom craft cocktail at Sugar House in Corktown, you can most likely find us hitting up one of the hot spots in The Belt, such as The Skip or Standby.

My fiancé Sam is not one to miss a good fashion moment, either. But, I will admit, his style wasn’t always the best. Dare we mention the head-to-toe green track suit that I finally put into the donation pile … Over the course of our relationship, his style has become more refined and less green. I love this plaid jacket from Zara at Somerset Collection that he threw on for our night out in Detroit! Simple, yet very stylish and classy.

SHOP: Checked suit blazerwhite button-down shirt, navy trousers, brown belt, all from Zara; men’s oxford shoes from Nordstrom.

My date night look is one I’ve been looking forward to wearing this spring! Not only is the color perfect for transitioning into this time of year, but nothing beats a good matching separate. This ensemble is classy and comfortable for strolling the town. Plus, the plaid detail gives it a little extra something. This set is available at Rococo in downtown Birmingham, which is a local, affordable and very stylish boutique that I often frequent. The shop’s edgy looks always add something fun to my wardrobe.

SHOP: Pink plaid matching set from Rococo and long camel duster coat from Misguided (shop similar).

As Sam and I ended our walk throughout the city to capture these stylish photos, something pretty special happened… Sam asked me to marry him! Of course I shouted, “YES!” I couldn’t have asked for a more special night.

Now with wedding planning on the brain, this spring just got a whole lot sweeter exploring new places in the stylish city that I call home.
