It’s the time of year when rainbow flags and glitter are necessities to celebrate Pride Month. Find out how you can have fun while supporting the LGBTQ community this June!

Ferndale Pride 2019

Rainbow Run 8:30 a.m. to noon

Pride Yoga with Rusty LeBlanc 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Ferndale Pride 1-10 p.m.

Downtown Ferndale

Ferndale Pride is an LGBTQAI street fair presented by The Candle Wick Shoppe. The celebration offers activities such as a Rainbow Run in the morning and Pride Yoga with Rusty LeBlanc. The festival lasts all afternoon that leads into the night. For more information visit ferndalepride.com.

June 1

Luster Dance Party

608 S. Washington Ave., Royal Oak

Pronto! on Washington Street offers upscale deli fare in a comfortable and social environment. To celebrate the start of Pride Month it will host a dance party after Ferndale Pride. So have a drink and do the cupid shuffle at one of the most popular LGBTQ bars in Metro Detroit.

June 6

Pride Night at the Thunderbowl

The Thunderbowl hosts an event every Thursday of the month, but on June 6 the bowling alley will host a pride night! It includes unlimited bowling, shoe rental, private room, private bar area, drink specials, billiard room and a 250-foot video wall. For more information visit thunderbowl.org.

Motor City Pride Festival

The Motor City Pride Festival takes place the second weekend of June and is known as Michigan’s largest pride celebration with over 40,000 participants. The festival begins at Griswald Street and ends at Hart Plaza. For more information visit motorcitypride.org

The Royal Oak Music Theatre

The Royal Oak Music Theatre presents “Destination Detroit,” a performance of music that put Detroit on the map. The performance features the PRISM Gay Men and Allies Chorus with a special guest from the Detroit Children’s Choir. For more information and tickets visit royaloakmusictheatre.com.

The Ringwald Theatre

The Ringwald Theatre is Detroit’s LGBTQ-identified theater troupe. Through June 10 the troupe will perform “Head Over Heels the Musical,” which just had a Broadway run.
