Everyone’s favorite chocolatier brings magic and mayhem to the Detroit Opera House with a production based on the iconic 1971 film about Willy Wonka and friends. The musical, which debuted on Broadway in 2017, features classic songs like “Pure Imagination” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” along with new tunes from the Grammy, Emmy and Tony-winning songwriters of “Hairspray.” Tickets from $29, ticketmaster.com.

Stassi Schroeder, the star of Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules” and author of the New York Times bestseller Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook, is kicking off her “Straight up With Stassi Live” tour at the Royal Oak Music Theater. Based on her podcast of the same name, the show — which also features Schroeder’s fiancé Beau Clark and fellow podcaster Taylor Strecker — promises lively discussions of celebrity gossip, pop culture and more. Leap Year, Leap Beer

Celebrate Leap Day with beer and a half-kilometer “race.” Part of the 2020 Michigan Brewery Running Series, participants will begin running (or walking) at 10:00 a.m. at Filmore 13 Brewery. At the finish line, they’ll be treated to a nice cold beer. The event will donate 10% of all proceeds to CASA STEM, a local organization that helps pay for STEM-focused field trips for local schools.
