Mix things up this Cinco de Mayo with one of these twists on the classic margarita

Tequila lovers everywhere have been counting down the days to Cinco de Mayo — and it’s finally here! While margaritas are this festive holiday’s go-to beverage, we’re highlighting some refreshing remixes of the classic cocktail. Here are four flavor-filled margaritas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Blood Orange Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz. tequila
- 2 oz. blood orange juice
- 1oz. triple sec
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- ½ oz. lime juice
- sugar or salt for rimming
- orange twist for garnish
Directions:
Rim glass with sugar or salt. In shaker with ice, add tequila, blood orange juice, triple sec, simple syrup and lime juice. Shake and pour into glass over ice. Garnish with remaining orange twist.
Spicy Pineapple Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz. tequila
- 1 oz. triple sec
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
- ½ oz. lime juice
- 1-2 jalapeno slices
- kosher salt and chili powder for glass rimming
Directions:
Combine kosher salt and chili powder, rim glass. In shaker, muddle 1-2 jalapeno slices. Add ice, along with tequila, triple sec, pineapple juice and lime juice. Shake and pour into glass over ice.
Pink Cadillac Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz. tequila
- 1.5 oz. cranberry juice
- 1 oz. triple sec
- ½ oz. sour mix
- ½ oz. lime juice,
- lime wedge for garnish
- sugar for rimming
Directions:
Rim glass with sugar. In shaker with ice, add tequila, cranberry juice, triple sec, sour mix and lime juice. Shake and pour into glass over ice. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Strawberry Basil Margarita
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz. tequila
- 1/2 oz. simple syrup
- 1 oz. lime juice
- 1 strawberry, sliced
- 3-4 basil sprigs
Directions:
In shaker, muddle strawberry slices and 2 basil sprigs. Add ice, along with tequila, simple syrup and lime juice. Shake and pour into glass over ice. Garnish with remaining basil sprigs.
