Joe Vicari, Founder, and CEO of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, has been a changemaker in the Metro Detroit area for over 30 years because of his many contributions to the areas of food, arts, entertainment, and philanthropies. Vicari has a passion for arts and entertainment and is responsible for bringing world-renowned acts to the Metro Detroit area at a variety of venues including Andiamo Celebrity Showroom, The Detroit Opera House, Fox Theater in Detroit, and the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater at Freedom Hill in which he is a Partner since 2000.

Tell us about the individual’s accomplishments:

Joe, an alumnus of Central Michigan University, was a linebacker for the Chippewas from 1976-1978. As an alumus, Joe is still a big supporter of Central Michigan University. Joe Vicari first opened the first Andiamo Restaurant 30 years ago this year. The Joe Vicari Restaurant Group has grown dramatically over the years and is comprised of eight Andiamo locations, two Joe Muer Seafood locations (the brand is celebrating 90 years this year), four locations for The Country Inn, Brownie’s on the Lake, five locations for 2941 Street Food, the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom (celebrating its 25th anniversary this year), the Andiamo Steak House in Las Vegas, Andiamo Catering & Events, and the Andiamo Food Truck. Many of today’s top stars have performed in the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom, located in the Andiamo Warren location. The showroom has showcased the talent of many well-known artists such as Paul Anka, Frankie Valli, The Beach Boys, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, and even Mickey Rooney. The Joe Vicari Restaurant Group has created stability and jobs for the Metro Detroit Area. In February of 2019, Joe Vicari helped create 150 new jobs with the expansion of the Andiamo brand to the Fenton area.

How is he/she impacting the community or the lives of people in Metro Detroit or across the world.

Joe Vicari is impacting the community by providing great food, great entertainment and supporting local charities. Joe not only feeds your belly with delicious meals, he also feeds our souls through arts and entertainment, and by his charitable giving back to the community. Each year he raises thousands of dollars for various charities. Vicari impacts the community daily by creating jobs for over 1,100 Metro Detroiters and bringing in one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences for Metro Detroiters. Vicari is part of many charities in Metro Detroit and was most recently recognized in May 2019 for his dedication to the community by Variety the Children’s Charity Detroit which supports and offer services to children with special needs. Additionally, Vicari won Man of the Year Nationally for the leukemia and lymphoma Society raising over $170,000.00 in 2017. Vicari is also President and one of the Founding Members of The Children's Charity at Adios, a charity for children which has raised over $2 million dollars since inception 27 years ago. The Children’s Charity at Adios raises over $100,000.00 yearly and all proceeds are donated to various children’s charities in Metro Detroit. Additionally, Vicari is a big supporter of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen & Gleaners Community Foodbank. He is Chairman of the Italian American Festival over 50,000 metro Detroiters visit every year. Vicari has been recognized for the 2014 Celebrity Charity Challenge, donating money to Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit, which helps empower and strengthen those impacted by cancer. Joe and the Andiamo Restaurant Group also host the Bernie Smilovitz Hunger Free Summer Golf Classic benefiting Gleaners Community Food Bank and other local Children’s Charities.
