Please describe why the nominee is a SEEN Changemaker:

LaShawna is a Changemaker because she has dedicated her life to helping the Sickle Cell population-- a disease that affects so many but is oven overlooked, underfunded and underserved. LaShawnda is a Clinical Social Worker at Children's Hospital of Michigan and works in the Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Division specifically helping children.

Tell us about the individual’s accomplishments:

I am unfamiliar with LaShawnda's achievements, however, I have worked with her for years and know that she puts everything she can into helping sick children in Michigan. LaShawnda never stops connecting families to nonprofits they can benefit from and works hard to make sure that kids with sickle cell disease experience as normal of a life as possible.

How is he/she impacting the community or the lives of people in Metro Detroit or across the world.

LaShawnda does everything she can to bring joy to children with the painful, lifelong, and oftentimes terminal Sickle Cell Disease. Not only is LaShawnda a Clinical Social Worker for children with Sickle Cell but is also an advocate who spends much of her time educating and helping the Sickle Cell population.
