As a leader in education reform and workforce development, Margrit has remained a steadfast champion of individuals and communities that are traditionally marginalized.
With experiences that span the K-12, higher education, non-profit organization, and private business sectors, Allen has spent the past 20 years building the social and economic capital of youth and individuals in the margins.
An unsung shero, Margrit Allen serves as a mentor/coach to several burgeoning young ladies and social entrepreneurs.
In her 40 years of living in Detroit, Margrit has accomplished much. As a single mother of two sons, Margrit has managed to serve in leadership roles with the following organizations:
