Hope is an amazing 23 year old who changes the lives of everyone she meets. Born with Spina Bifida, enduring over 100 operations and seven years ago underwent a bone marrow transplant, she only sees the good in life. Like many teenagers with severe medical conditions, she spent more time at the hospital than at our home. Then one day during her bone marrow transplant, she returned to a room that was designed for her. The simple act of designing her hospital room changed the course for her. Since then, Hope has raised money and designed 21 hospital rooms at Children's Hospital of Michigan for her 21st birthday and she has done many more since then. She speaks to groups around the Metro Detroit area to bring awareness for teens like herself. SH has also been on the Ellen Show and has met with fellow bone marrow thriver, Robin Roberts.
Hope has been a volunteer ambassador at Wish Upon Teen. She has strong ties at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and CS Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. She gives back to each hospital that has helped her.
Hope is currently (and for the last seven years) a volunteer in the Doctoring Prpgram at the University of Michigan Medical School for first year students, teaching them how to see things from the patients perspective,
Hope has been a member of the Miracle League of Michigan for the last 16 years, she is one of the original players.
Just recently, Hope won a design contest- she designed cleats for Detroit Tigers pitcher, Buck Farmer and he will wear them during the MLB Players Weekend August 23rd thru August 25th.
Her biggest accomplishment is surviving or as her friend Robin Robert's told her "thriving" over 100 operations by living her best life.
Making an impact and helping teenagers with life threatening illnesses.
