Kelly Kang is a leading technology executive and emerging leader in the city of Detroit. Ms. Kang has organized and cultivated numerous people and mobility focused companies to move to Detroit to build businesses. 40% of the 2019 Techstars Detroit teams, which were co-produced by Kang, have female founders and 60% are international companies. Kang strives to bring business models to Detroit that are a mix of consumer, enterprise, and governmental spanning industries that intersect with automotive and Detroit. She is literally changing the way people think about Detroit being the epicenter of mobility companies creating change for the industry.
Kelly Kang was a 2015 Venture for America Fellow. She learned hands-on skills about what it takes to build a company, and how to spark job growth in cities. Kang leads weekly 1:1 mentorship with an elementary students at local Detroit schools through the Kids Hope USA program and was a recipient of the Yale Arthur Liman Public Interest Summer Fellowship at Yale Law School, where she served at the Legal Aid Society in New York City.
Through the Techstars Detroit program Kelly is helping invest in startups transforming the intersection of the physical and digital worlds.
Her team is investing in founders building businesses that can leverage the strengths of Detroit to succeed. She works with a diverse set of corporate partners, including Lear Innovation Ventures, Ford X, AAA, Avanta Ventures, USAA, Nationwide, Honda Innovations, and PlanetM.
Kelly Kang is a role model to young girls around the region. She is a fearless woman in tech and is developing the next generation of female tech leaders in Detroit.
