There is a mounting homeless and stray dog problem in Detroit, along with dire need for humane rescue alternatives such as no-kill sheltering. Fighting these and other issues facing our furry friends is the Detroit Dog Rescue. On Valentine’s Day, dog owners and lovers flocked to MOCAD where PetCalls hosted a Detroit Loves Dogs fundraiser to benefit the Detroit Dog Rescue. The event included food and treats for pups, custom engraved tags, a portrait photographer and even Puppy Tarot card readers. The goal was to raise $20,000 through ticket sales and a silent auction.
