Detroit’s most promising entrepreneurs competed at the second annual Quicken Loans Detroit Demo Day on June 22 at the Detroit Music Hall. Fifteen entrepreneurs had 90 seconds to pitch their ideas to judges and an audience. Seven of them received a total award of $1.2 million in the form of interest-free loans, grants and convertible notes from Quicken Loans to continue to grow their business. The event concluded with a performance from Common, a Grammy-award winning rapper.

- Lush Yummies – $100,000
Lemon butter pies made with a fourth generation recipe.
Grow category winners:
- Cyntsational Popcorn – $100,000
Vegan popcorn made from locally sourced ingredients.
- Tait Design Co. – $200,000
Design company producing sleek home accessories and toys.
- The TEN Nail Bar – $250,000
A luxury nail experience.
Scale category winner:
- Michigan Farm to Freezer – $300,000
A company freezing fresh Michigan-grown produce to make local, fresh food accessible year round.
